The Northern Boxing Association's Championships were held at Auckland on Monday and Tuesday nights, m the presence of large crowds. Following are the detailed results: ' BANTAMS } W. Purdy (8.2)' v. C. McCarthy (8.0): To the surprise oT fans, Purdy, a,boy of only fifteen years, got all over McCarthy m the first round. The second round was a thrill. Both stood and punched toe to toe and Purdy more than held his own. The third was also a beauty, but- McCarthy's right hand had gone and it dropped lifeless by his side. Despite this he scored well with the left, but Purdy was always a winner, he was the surprise of the tournament.
