SOUTHERN SCRAPS.

By "Sagax."

Tlie prospect of a fight between D. Murphy and Lea. Murray is now ofC for good, owing lo Murphy's prolonged disqualification.

Denny has been a game old boxer, m his time, and, of course, after his weak display at Invercargill it was plain he had not the ghost of a chance m future against any average young blood. Denny had seen his heydey, but it is a pity, nevertheless, that he should see his boxing career ended by disqualification. He has some intention of appealing, but, as we are not fully conversant with the facts of the affair, we are not m a position to say how he actually stands. "Truth." is m complete .accord with the efforts of all who desired to see clean, honest .fighting and healthy control of the craft. Westport is to be congratulated upon its vigor m tbe Murphy-Senior affair, provided there is no doubt whatever about the matter. Such vigorous handling by the controls is deserving of universal support.' Since Murphy is out of the tvav, as things look, Bob Graham, of Auckland, is anxious to match his brother Jock, another welter, with Murray. Jock Graham is m hand training all the time and can meet Murray or any other at a moment's notice. Murray i.s in strict training at present and is to-be matched shortly, but so far, the opponent, is not named. S. S. Myers and.R. G. Anderson have been, elected life members of the Otago Boeing Association. Both are well known identities m Dunedin, and have given a. lifetime to the advancement of the manly art. ■ . , 1-terb. McCoy, Australia, who, at present is m Dunedin, has signed up with bes Murray an agreement to fight, and the proposal is being considered by the Ota go Boxing Association. Boxing association^' should m every case offer and make their own terms, ih view of the fickleness of the public. Professional boxers should not be considered on their terms.
