HOMES FOR SOLDIERS.
Dear "Truth," — Many schemes are afoot to-day for "War Memorials," and it seems to me that the majority are extremely selfish and for the sole benefit of some church, town or association, who are too ashamed to appeal for funds for themselves, and use the dead bodies of our gallant soldiers to gain their ends. Memorials for this great ■war ought to take the form of doing something for the soldiers themselves, and would it not be a good plan for every town and city to create a "General Memorial Fund" and with the money build homes for soldiers who have fortunately returned, and later on the money from rents could be used to erect other memorials or be used to beautify the schools and public buildings of their town. Our married returned soldiers m most towns cannot find even a dog's kennel to live m, and yet we that have stopped at home have built or acquired fine homes for our-
ducei Now, however, under civUJsed conditions, India (has incurred an enormous debt to capitalists m a farselves and mostly from wax < profit*. Do you not think, that war memorials should be homes for soldiers an& thus prove our gratitude. — Yours, «tc, F. MORRIS, Hon Organiser. Mastorton.
