. The ex-bantam of Wellington, and trainer of New Zealand's Army boxing team. Ike Kutner, is now a Gisborne resident. "Iron" Bux, the Manila snag, was born m Hong Kong, and his full name is Alim Mahomed Bux. He has been fighting nine years, and m his earlier career was a fearful hitter, and as elusive as an eel m thin mud. Now what particular breed is Buxey? The Association is seeking an opponent for Bill Bartlett, the heavyweight. Why not send Bartlett up against Pooley for the championship? Bartlett, of course, has yet to emerge victorious from his tryst with Richardson at Greymouth. The Gisborne Boxing Association will hold a two-nights' tourney at the end of October, and an effort is being made to match Denny Murphy and Jack Heeney for the middleweight title. E. Stafforn, the middle-weight amateur m Wellington, is a hefty and clever customer. It's unfortunate that the associations are not catering for the amateurs. Stafforn could be voted a moral for the middle-weight championship. E. Stafforn and Joe Coster had a set-to at a local gym. last Monday afternoon. Stafforn was m fine form, but Joe was hardly up to his reputation. Perhaps more will be heard of Joe, who is keen on meeting any welter or middle-weight m New Zealand. Eddie McGoorty's latest "hook" was being hooked before the beak at Old Bailey, m Famous London Town, and having ten denario hooked out of his kiclcsy for being drunk and incapable m Dikapilly. He was training to fight Beckett! Whoever was responsible for their importation had to give heavy bonds for the safe return to Manila of the two Filipino boxers, Salvino Jamito and Cowboy Reyes, now m Sydney. The former met Vince Blackburn at the Stadium on Saturday night ?ast, and the latter meets Jack Green there this Saturday evening. Blackburn and Jamito have met before during the former's stay m Manila; and Vlnce ' says that "Jam Eater" is the toughest block he ever punched.
