Comes Home Broken at Last. (From "Truth's" Christchurch Rep.) There was no sign of Frederick Laurence m the Christchurch Magistrate's Court on Tuesday of last week, when Emily A. Barrett alleged that Frederick was the dada of her babe just three weeks old. The young woman said that for three years she had been housekeeper to Laurence, m Christchurch, but ho was a married man with a wife and three children m England. All the time complainant had been housekeeping for him they had been like husband and wife, but the old saw about the pitcher going to the well too often was again borne out, and Eniily eventually found that there was something 1 wrong. When she told him how things were he growled and kicked her on the side. Just •after Christmas last he left Christchurch and went to the North Island, and she was left m Christchurch. The child was born on April 10. A Mrs. Devereaux gave evidence as to an interview she had with Laurence, m which he made certain admissions. His Worship decided that Laurence was the 1 darling's dada, and made an order for 12s 6d a week v and costs. "As he is m the North Island and has a wife and three children m" England, I shall, order him to find one surety of £200 or two of £100 to see that he complies with the order," said his Worship.
