Nominations for the Auckland T.O. meeting at Alexandra Park, . closed on October 4. In the Maiden Trot (saddle), the opening event, there are 17 entries, and m the Middle-class Handicap (harness). 21 trotters are nominated. The big event, the Spring Handicap, only attracted nine horses m Harolfl Junior, Steel Bell, Joan of Arc, Waverley, Lieutenant, Nora Crena, Bidens, Harold Devon and Asturio. Manawatu Trotting Club > probably deeming that cash is more plentiful at Christmas time than m the autumn are going to run a trot meeting at the great festive time. The change will mean a clash with : Auckland's summer gathering. The aged Kirikiriroa has nominated for the Mountain Trot Handicap, at the A.T.C. Spring meeting. He is m work, but last season's record does not promise much, for the Atlas— Vulture gelding had seven starts for "nix" last season. A more promising trotter is Kereone, engaged m the Maiden, for the gelding had a second and a third m six starts. Both "X's" have condition m their favor. Harold Junior, whose name appears m the two big events of the A.T.C. SpringSpring Handicap and October Handicap—has the record of winning those events last year. Though several times placed his next win was the Forbury Handicap oh February 2.
