A TAKING WAY.

At the Wellington Magistrate's Court on Wednesday, before Mr. W. G. Riddell, S.M., Joseph Nelson, who was clad m the regulation khaki, admitted cheerfully that he had appropriated two razors (unsafety safety ones apparently), and a boot from a room-mate m lodging at Auckland. Presumably/ he wanted the boot to sharpen the razors on, but, finding that one of the hirsute cutters was. not much chop, he cast it into the sea and decamped to Wellington v/ith one razor and one boot. There he met a sleuth who nailed him. He had no' explanation to make beyond the ingenuous admission that he "just • took the things." He was convicted and ordered to come up for sentence on the first charge, and fined 20s on the other, m default seven days' imprisonment. He was also ordered to pay the cost of the stolen goods to the owner.
