ANNOYED AND INSULTED.
A Complaint to "Truth."
A lady, Who puts herself down as a staunch supporter of "Truth," makes a complaint to the effect that on more than one occasion recently she has been annoyed and insulted by being accosted by men m the precincts of Cathedral Square. She opines that these miserable facsimiles of men seem to think they are entitled to accost any unchaperoned female who happens to be on the street, day or night. There is no doubt a lot of solid sense m what the lady says, and many a respectable young woman would not care to be out alone at night, even m the mam thoroughfares, and m New Zealand's holy city, too. It is a pity ladies when accosted by the kind of man under review do not call a constable. If this were done and an example made of an offender perhaps an improvement would follow. The police can hardly be expected to put a stop to the practice, for that is what it amounts to, unless the ladies assist.
