THE MOSGIEL CO-OPERATIVE DAIRY FACTORY, LIMITED.
Second Annual Report and Balance Sheet.
"Cambist" is sorry to say that the accounts furnished by the above company give very little ground for comment It would seem that it manufactured butter as well as cheese, but that cheese was the strong- suit. There were sales of butter amounting to £239.. but the customers were apparently confined to the suppliers to the factory. The report tells the shareholders that the output of cheese "is about 92 tons." Why the exact figures are not given is rather puzzling. There is nothing to show how much the suppliers were paid for their butter-fat, either m the accounts or the report of the directors. This prevents the possibility of comparison with other concerns engaged
m the same business. "Cambist*' would urge the suppliers to demand the FULLEST STATISTICAL INFORMATION, ■ m addition to clearly set out accounts. There is no difficulty about this, and at the same time if is necessary. Suppliers should know whether the manufacture is carried on on the best lines. They shgjild also be m. a position to judge wliT-ther the disposal of the output is affected by profitable methods. The all too brief report of the directors does not satisfy "Cambist m any particular, but if the directly interested parties, namely,, shareholders and suppliers, care to put up with such .&■ repo?^ — well, that is their business.
