BAGGING BOOSE.

A Dozen Dope. » • — • Just how a chap named ' Spencer Albert Toon tickled Shand's brewery to the "toon" of a dozen bottles of tanglefoot on August 17 is not quite clear, because when Toon lined up before Magistrate McCarthy on Wednesday of last week,, at the Christchurch Court, all that cou]d be gathered was that Toon and another named John William Keand were' charged with pinching the dozen of 'dope. Keand did not put m an appearance, but is due on the 19th, but Toon admitted his , sin. About the circumstances, Chief "Demon" Mcllveney said nothing, but remarked that if Toon were given a chance he would make himself scarce and get away- to the country. "Convicted and fined £2," said his Worship, and then remembered that there was the booze to pay for, so tacked another thirteen "bob" on.
