Shortage of Magistrates Occasions Adjournments. The dearth of magistrates m Wellington resulted m Justices of the $eace having to occupy the Bench at ■€he Police Court on Wednesday, and Messrs. J. W. Ellison and J. Salek heldthe breach admirably. There were, of course, a large number of remands, several cases being set down for hearing that were outside the jurisdiction of the J.P.'s. However, they successCully sawed off a number of drunks and other necessary evils, and shifted one or two minor cases from a list that is growing fat with adjournments.
