: Answers to Correspondents Arrangements have been made with the Defence Department to furnish reliable Information by which all reasonable inquiries may be answered relative -'to military matters, such as enrolment, appeals, pay, financial assistance, pensions, and so forth, Alt inquiries should be addressed to Editor "Truth," P.O. Box 574, Wellington. While every effort will be made to secure accuracy, "Truth" can assume no responsibility. Correspondents must send full name and address of persons referred to, as well as of themselves, not necessarily for publication, but to assist In the making of Inquiries and to prove their bona fides.. No charge Is made, but no documents will be returned unless postage is forwarded for this purpose. "Reject" (Now Plymouth): No information" re desertion has reached Base Records. See Legal column next issue for further advice. "Reservist" (Ngawapurua) : (a) Section 27 of the Military Service Act, 1916, provides that the pendency of any appeal shall m no way suspend' the obligation of military service. However, the practice is not to send ■into camp any appellant whose appeal has been lodged within the ten days allowed' by the Act until such appeal has been heard by the Military Service Board. • (b) Section 2 of the same Act provides that "military age" means any age not less than twenty years and less than forty-six years. All men of military age as above denned can legally be sent abroad, but under the present policy, framed on the .advice of the medical authorities, men over forty-four are not being compelled to proceed abroad.
