NOT A HUN.
Dear "Truth,"— ln a recent issue I notice Mrs. Aamodt feela Justly aggrieved that her eon at the front should be nicknamed "a Hun." No doubt that tha gallant fellow desires not 'to take any umbrage at his" mates' actions, but all the same, that kind of work should be stopped at once. The late Charlie Aamodt, the soldier's father, was for years the sergeant-major of the old Wanganul Rifles; one of the best companies In New Zealand. When he' left this town to reside m Wellington he joined up with the Wellington Guards, and all old members know of his good work, and how the corps was a topnotcher. There are very few men who did more loyal service m the old volunteer days. In : civil life I am sure the members of . the Wellington Workingmen's Club would resent any indignity being shown to any of his family. The Aamodt family is one of the oldest of Wanganui residents respected by all. 1 hope Mrs. Aamodt will rest content m the knowledge that the respect all had for Mr. Aamodt will compensate her for any annoyance she has suffered. — Yours, etc., "OLD WANGANUI RIFLES." Wanganui. .
