1 Shamolcss Soaker Simms. (From "Truth's" Auckland Rep.) A beautiful boozor and waster recolved a testimonial from Sub-Inspec-tor Mellveney and me Rev. F. Jeffreys on Monday last at the Auckland Police Court. George Slmms Is tho name of tho chap and on tho charge-sheet he figured as a drunk for tho second time. Tho Sub-Inspector stated that Slmms was a drunken waster and suggested, that a coup'ia of years on Rotoroa would be the best thing. The Rev. Jeffreys SUPPORTED THE SUGGESTION and said he had quite a lot to do with Slmms who thought of nothing but pouring booze down )j!b throat. Slnun.'j had a delicate, mother over 70 years of age and like the waster ho -was \u> would sponge upon her and abuse her. A couple of "Johnops" also said that Slmms's "long suit" was disposing of beer. Slmms said he did not want to go to tho island because he hud been there before ami It hud done him no (food. Magistrate Cuttvn remarked that perhaps he had not stayed long enough, so made the term two years this time.
