The Economic Balance
A, British Order-in-Council has been gazetted which prohibits the export of pianos and chocolates. If other luxuries are similarly treated there might be a cheapening m the price of necessities.
Jettison the luxuries, tip them off the scale. Why pander to the wealthy few when hungry children wail? Why fill the ships with useless things when thoy could carry more, Of stuff necessitous to keep the grim wolf from the door?
Let's hope 'twill prove successful m bringing down the scale, Which holds the things the people need and seek without avail. 'Tis infamous that, folk should want, while wealth is squandered fast. Awake, ariso New Zealand! that this scandal may not last.
