"The weights announced were: Hill, Bst 81b; and Smith, 9st IVai* On his showings at the matinees, Smith promised to he some class, but on Saturday night his showing was very poor, and altogether his exhibition showed that the American standard of boxing has deteriorated. Smith was certainly willing enough, and tried to fight, but it was his very bad luck to find Hill m first-class righting trim. The Sydney boxerj simply played with the American, hitting hjm' when and where he liked, and stood, him .on .sufferance for' 20 Founds. Hill : ran , out an easy winner on points.
