The following little story of the' front trenches is contained In a lotter from a British soldier serving m France: The Saxons used to have a chap with them named Paul, who had a lovely voice and used to sing all the latest songs: He -was easily heard m 1 our front trenches, ancjL his songs were enjoyed by pur fellows as well as by the Germans. One day, when things were quiet, there were no songs to listen to, and one of our men called out to tho Germans, "Tell Paul •to sing." Back came tho answer, preceded by a string of guttural German I corses, "You chuted Paul yesterday." :| .
