TARANAKI TIES.
The Taranaki Coursing Club recently held a successful plumpton, 8 meeting at Glenavon, New Plymouth. Tho weather was beautiful, and a big array of the public rolled up. i Mr. J. Jenkinson adjudicated, and Mr. R, Gardiner utilised the slips. Both gents gave every satisfaction; and i Secretary Jenkinson generally succeeding m carrying througtPftUd concluding a fine meeting. < A maiden stake, which attracted 16 dogs, was run off. The money offering I was good considering the entries, and it was well divided. First round. — Mr. P. Healy»s Oonneby Ethelbald— Ha2el, beat J. *Flemming*s Glen, by Garrylough — Fly. Glen got badly beaten, doing nothing any time. D. Murphy's Silver Brae, by Master Wairiki — Silverdale, m a very short course squelched F. Barribal's Sambo, by Peter — Darble. A. V. Evott's Miss Wairiki, by Master Wairiki— Kilmarnock Maid, easily beat R, Neal's Black Chief, by Royal Flush — Aberdeen, In-, a rather good course. Miss Wairiki became an outstanding feature from the jump, and piled up the second largest number of j points m tho initial "go." j • G. Dobblns's Silver Bell, by Garyrclough — Darkie, beat R. Davidson's Polar Star 11.. by Gobo— Yellow PeNl. Polar Star was very badly beaten, only securing a fractional look m. Silver Bell's scoring led Miss Walrlkl's by several points. R. H. Healy's Black Mascot (Royal Flush — Aberdeen) beat E. Clark's Stockings (Worms— Laundry Girl). Shlld'S Rluo Cloud (Champion Proof — Topsy) m a short swift course boat W. Haskell's Red Lancer (Archduke — Duchess). It's wonderful how good blood tells all through. C. Hardgrave's Tiger, by Wet DayNell, bent S. Rowe's Daylight Star, by Connemara — Fly. Tiger scored admirably. C. Evett's (N.S.) Skipper's Daughter, by Pirate Captain— Acrasln, beat L. Scrivener's St. Kauri, by Better DaysKauri. v Second Round.— Connemara completely squelched Silver Brae. Miss Wairiki narrowly beat Silver Bell. Blue Cloud narrowly beat Black Mascot. Skipper's Daughter easily beat Tiger. The scmi-flnal did not develop, as, when Miss Wairiki, by 10 points, beat Connemara, •)%, Messrs. Shilds and Evotts, the ownera*of Bluo Cloud and Skipper'H Daughter respectively, agreed to divide the money. Mr. Evctts also nominated Miss Wulrlkl, and Jt should be said that Skipper's Daughter was merely his nom. Mr. Shilds was lucky In gettlngyAlr, Evotts to agree to divide, as I should say Blue Cloud, though the son of a good father, would have Usrht pacers m Skipper's Daughter and Mlsa Walrlkl, Considering the money, it was a pity Blue Cloud did not stick out, as beyond a decided reputation If he won. he had not much else to gain. However, Blue Cloud's repute would have been a really big one If he won. On tho programme Blue Cloud's breeding Is given as "unknown." I am Informed that he is a Champion Proof item. Tho information scorns reliable. Mr. C. llcaly wns lucky, as, according to the triple division of the stake monoy, ho nearly received as much as Mr. C.\ KvettH, who divided for tho flnal. Mr. Houiy'a Connemara secured Bccond monoy. - Both Messrs. Healy und Evotts were tlu. largest nominators for the meeting, Mr. Healy being tha lending owner. The Taranaki "Herald" remarks that Messrs. Kyotjts and Shilds agreed to divide the stake. They might ugrco to divide flrst money, which was not really won, but Mr, Healy^jwas entitled to second. All the other -tlogH wu-ro on equalised terms, viz., in' firm plac<'~consequently Connemara was «i>cond. Did ho nul get second inotu-y. According to the paper auot.»d ho dot-s not seem to have received It.
