THE BRITANNIA THEATRE.
Wellington's New Picture Palace.
Through tho kindness and courtesy of Messrs. LinJey and Monk, i"Trutli M was enabled to mako a i>crBonally conducted tour of innpecti on through the noarly-complotcd Urftannla Picture Theatre m Monnorsstreot. on Thursdny afternoon last. It must confess, old thentro-flocr as it \9, tbafc itoponwl JtH oyt'B In as*
' tonishment; for inside a modest exterior there was rovealed all that an amusement-loving public could •wish for m comfort and convenience. Up a short flight of steps a cosy lounge, furnished m the most up-to-date style, has been fixed, up. Even the ever-necessary telephone has been supplied. Another short flight gave access to the "circle." Hero comfort will reign supreme, as the seating acconunodatibn is of ittur best, with its roomy, plushupholstered chairs and richly-carpet-ed passages. Down stairs the accommodation is equally goodleather taking the place of plush. The mural decorations aro plain, but tasteful and restful m the highest degree. There Jb nothing m the least garish to distract the attention. The high-vaulted ceiling has enabled the architects to instal a perfect system of vontilation; while the lighting arrangements aro lavish •m the extreme. The balcony overlooking the main street is sure to prove a popular resort on Bummer nights. Taken on the whole, it can, with confidence, bo said that "The Brit." is tho most perfect little continuous p^cturo theatre south of tho line, next, the opening night, should see a packed house. *
