HOLBERG v. PORTER.
* A Poor Display. There was only-. a moderate attend-' ance at the Olympic Stadium, Brisbane, when Waldemar Holberg, the Danish light-weight "was pittPd against Len. Porter, the light-weight champion of ;{ New Zealand. If was apparent to all around the ringside after the first round that the New Zealander hadn't a hope against the rugged little Dane, who fought m a determined and aggressive style .from the start. Porter is a fair boxer, but was completely outclassed, and was totally incapable of defending him-' self against his opponent The bout was of short duration, Porter half -way through -the eighth round going- to- his corner and asking, his seconds to sky the * rag; which was! promptly done. Holberg forced the fight from the start, and directed most of his atteu-r (Jon to hard left rips to the body. These were delivered with an amount of power that made Porter wince with pain. On two occasions Porter appealed over these, and he. was perfectly justified for doing so, as they .were dangerously low, and m the last round, when Porter cried enough,; a> left rip got him fair W the groin Holberg showed no marks of any note,
while Porter, on". the other hand v?as bleeding profusely from a cut over the right eye, while the other optic also was m a swollen state. Porter was very weak, and- m - physical stamina was m every way inferior to Holherg.
