He was distinctly "under the rail," and his cargo of mixed drinks caused the ferry boat to rock as he meandei - ed down the gangway at the Devonport (Auckland) wharf on Saturday night last. With him came a friend and his missus, and the friend, being sober, and having the missus around to see that he kept that way, sweetly remarked "Good-night" to the "bloko" who jvas wearing tho brewery under his waistcoat. In beautiful Parisian French and Johnsonian English camo the reply! "Olive oil; thanks; mutually applied!" Then the wharf rocked,' and the ticket collector's box fell with a loud crash on top of the elderly lady who was looking for the "tanner" which she had forgotten to dig out from behind the shovel m the coalscuttle at home, where she had planted it.
