An Inhuman Father,

Auckland Juvenile Court has some precocious youngsters before it occasional]}*, and some parents who ureas worthy of the name as a hog, but the limit was struck on Monday last when Secretary Jones, of the Hospital and Charitable Aid Board, applied to have some children committed to an industrial school. The stale of affairs m connection with the father of these unfortunates, as disclosed by Mr Jones, showed him to be an inhuman monster and n blackguard whom tho law should severely deal with. Mr Jones, m placing the case of the unfortunate mother and tho children before Mr Cutten. S.M., made no bones about the father— a party catled J. Keeper. Mr Jones stated that crapulous Keeper's family had b-.cn Jiving at

Lower Head, but father was a mprable feast, and: was all over the'eoun-. try. When he did blow hornc 1( it was m a state of beer arid abuse,'and ;he used most disgraceful threats against his wife; and children.;. This, beautiful^ specimen had", m the course of abuse* to his wife,, stated thai-. he would "take advantage" of. his eldest daughter—a girl of fourteen years! It was therefore 1 to protect this girl and the other children that'the Board.was applying, to have th»m committed. Mr Jones added that when Keeper the, cur made his threat he stated that he "would dp seven years for it" cheerfully. The mother, had worked hard —too hard altogether for the children —and it was m both their interests that the children should be committed. .."',.. Sub-Inspector Hendry was, asked to; say a taw words about Keeper, and the Sub's few words were brief and to the point. Keeper was a loafer and' a waster, but was quite able to support his children, and should be compelledto do so. Keeper was to be m 'Wellington next Wednesday, and probably the Law would be able to connect up with him there. The S.M. duly made . the order of committal and the usual order for maintenance, and further instructed the Law to keep a bright look-out for Keeper.
