AN ARISTOCRAT ARRESTED.
Sharebroker's Supposed Shortage. A slight sensation was caused 1h aristocratic circles on Wednesday of last week wlien it became known that a sharebroker named James Scott Lennox had l>een' arrested on the information of the Official Assignee on the charge that being a bankrupt, he had, by rash and hazardous speculations, brought about his financial failure. He' was^brpught jjefpre Mr Cutten, S.M. He had. Mr Denniston as counsel, whilst MrSe|wyn Mays appeared for the Grown Prosecutor, and asked for a remand for eight days. He did not object to reason-able bail, as there were more charges to be brought against accused. "His Worship fixed ball at two sureties of £50 each, which was iunmediately forthcoiming. • ■ The accused g-ent. was recently a stock and sharfrbroker m Auckland, dealing; m bulls and bears yriteh the usual brokers' ability. On. August 9 last he was made bankrupt ofi a creditors' .petition.'
