Wellington Rep. Team v. Americans.
The Wellington team for our first rep. match of the season was picked last Saxurday night,' and, as usual, the selectors have discovered that those players who occupy certain positions m club contests have no right, there, so they pick them to play m some, other part of the field. Kinvig (a five-eighth-) has got to play full-back, meaning that we have not a good full -foiaclc m Wellington, Roberts, the best half m the Dominion, goes up to five-eighth, because, sad to relate, we have no satisfactory men for the position-! Why not Ryan of Victoria Colledge ? Why not Kinvig m his place, and Roberts at . half-back ? U-ood man as little Tilyard is, he must give place at present to Roberts. Mitchinson, the best centre three-quarter m , the Dominion, also goes up to five-eighths.- So that Wellington football is m this position, that it has to play a champion half-back and a crack centre up at five-eighths, presumably because we have^no one of the regular players m those positions fit to take the place. Anyhow, we have seen both Roberts and Mitchinson play m this position before, and they were neither of them successes. Pyle might have been given a chance m the three-quarter line. The forwards are good, but one Would like to see Poneke Hunter get his show.
