"Breaks" in -Doable Harness.
Alfred Charles Hamilton Kerr Is a young man of twenty-seven, who trains trotters for a crust at New Brighton, but has failed to run kindly m double harness himself, as his 24-fear-old missus, Ruby Lurline, sued him for maintenance on Tuesday on the ground of desertion. Lawyer Alpers, the young man's counsel, mentioned the immature age of the . parties and the fact- that they had a youngster of two years and a half. In the circumstances, he advised a reconciliation. Mr'Cassidy, for the wife, didn't agree to this capitulation on the part of the enemy, as he desired that any order should be made under section 21 of the Act to facilitate possible future divorce proceedings that might be deemed necessary. This difficulty - was got over by embodying section 21 m the plaint.
The evidence of Ruby . Lurline went to show, that hubby had recently sold a property worth £800 ; m addition, he had a section beside the one disposed of, another one on Racecourse-road, and several valuable racehorses, including Wild -Coon. Magistrate Bishop remarked to Mr Alpers that counsel or himself wouldn't ilike to keep a wife on £1 a week.
Mr Cassidy said that Mr Alpers had no experience of keeping a wife.
Mr Alpers acknowledged the truth, of xthis. He said that Kerr agreed to pay ithe sum demanded, on the understanding that the two might come together again.
Kerr was ordered to pay 30s a week, jjand the missus was given custody of the -child.
