ATHLETIC 13 v. MELROSE 0.
This game, played on Park No. 2, re-, suited m a win for the wearers of the blue and black^by 13 points to 0. During the first half the play was very even although" Melrose should have scored more than once, the Blues being penalised several times right m front of their owo goal. The ball, however, was too heavy for the kickers. In the second spell , the Blue forwards took charge of the game, and the result was never m doubt. . Fraser, the Melrose full, was m good form, and did yeoman service for his side. He stopped rushes m great style, and his taking of the ball and line-kick-ing were first-class. Marshall, wing three-quarter, also played a first-class game. Murphy and Tworoey were only fair. The five-eighths were not conspicuous. Greeks at half played a fair game. Mclnnes, King and Marshall were the pick of an even set of forwards. Cunningham, the Blue full, had little to do, and was not called on for any defensive work. McDonald, wing three-quarter, was the pick of . the Blue third line. : McKenzie and Sim Wilson were not? asked to do much. Evensen and Denham, at five-eighths, do not work too well together, but ) individually played well. , ' Organ, at half, played a good game, getting the ball away well and opening, up the game at every opportunity. Bell, Osborne and Wilson were the pick , of the forwards, who all played well.
