« -r—- ' A couple of weeks ago, m dealing with I the death of an unfortunate individual named William Hills, •it was mentioned by "Truth" that the deceased's widow and child were m very strained circumstances. Further, we . expressed our readiness to receive and acknowledge any subscriptions that miiht be sent alms co help the poor, woman. A number, of Hills' friends kindly interested themselve.l m the matter, with the result that ,a sum of £15 19s has' been collected, and this sum was, during tha week, handed over to Mrs Hill. . Any further donations will he acknowledged m th"se columns. Those who kindly interested themselves m the matter were Mesdam«s Woodward and Moh™, £& 3s ; Welsh, 17s ; Messrs H. Vetori, £5 12s Od ; G. Dylrrberp, £4 17s 6d ; and Malcolm, £2 Us.—Total, £15 15s. Mrs Hill, who, as stated, was handed the above sum -at "Truth" office during the week, has expressed to this paper her sincere thanks to those who assisted her m her hour of nce,d, and desires that her thanks to those kindly-disposed persons should be made through these columns.
