THE MORALS OF THE MORRELLS.
A Contradiction. The case m. which a Chijstckurch carpenter named Morrell was charged, with his wife, with keeping a brotfaeft (and was subsequently given the benefit 1 , of the doubt) seems to have occasioned considerable uneasiness m the neighiborhood, judging by the ' fdllowing. correspondence received by this impartial paper:— . ' December, 5, JOB. To the Editor of Truth. Dear Sir,— Being forced (as a witness on behalf of the Urown) into .the- case of' Police v. Morrell, and knowing that you at, all times are prepared to voice the truth, I desire your consideration of the following libellous statement made by Mr Morrell, which, from the evidence I will bring from citizens of standing, you will find to be both malicious and unfair and, contrary to truth : "That I was the keeper of a grog shop and that he . HAD SEEN 1 BOTTLES OF WHISKY sold" out of the barber shop door on Sunday." Without taking up unnecessary space m your paper, 1 would deem it a favor if you would contradict that statement, l as I could do on oath" and m. which 1 would be supported '■ by the owners of the affixed signatures. In/ anticipation of your favor, believe me, etc, G. F. JOLL, ■ No. 2 Cashel-street, Linwood. Signatures— . ■ . • Mrs M. Broad, "Manning's Place, Woolston. . Mrs C. H.
