•The ■' W.P.C.Ai-Riyal match on Thursday' week resulted m an exciting win for the former by two runs. W.F.C.A. (which' made 106 m the first innings) put up 11V7 m the second innings. The • wicket was a batsman's, and with the. weak bowling : nf the Rivals, W.F.C.A. should have made more than 117. The best batsmen failed to do much, 'but the "tail" pasted the nowling all over the green, the last few wickets adding about '80 runs to -the) score. Young ■Phillips played a nice innings for 30 not out. Pragnell had more than I: is fair share of lurk m compiling 21. and Harry Hall gave a fine display for 18. Tlie Rival fielding was poor- The Ri-
val's innings reached 119, and it was the "tail" of this team also that wagged. The last wicket put on close vp'on 50 runs. Sammy Kingdon gave a lively display for' 25, while Edwards compiled 19 by good cricket. Barr made 18, Frank Wickens 15 (not out) and Waters 15. The W.F.C.A. bowling was on the weak side. Masterton seniors gained a 3 point victory over Carterton at Masterton on Saturday. Masterton (first innings 117) compiled 193 m their second strike. "Dolly" Esson gave a capital display for 62. He punished the "loose Carterton bowling m great style, and gave a good exhibition all round the wicket. Skipper Redmond gave another of his free displays for 37, while Logan was responsible for a neatly compiled 24. Ibbetson (17) and Perry (12) also batted well. The 227 set Carterton to win was too much for them and the last wicket fell at 173. Smart made 90 and m doing so showed good cricket. He gave a couple of chances. Beechey (18 not "'it), ..Phelps (15) and Tunnicliffe (10) ere the other double figure scorers. Hedmqnd bowled the best for Masterton, taking 7 for 43. The fielding of both' teams was good, while Esson gave a grand display of wicket-keeping for Masterton.
