There are two literary maladies—writer s cramp and. swelled head. The worst of writer's cramp is that it is- never cured ; the worst of swelled head is that it never kills— Co ulston ' Kornaban. Some of our schoolmasters say that New Zealand lads spend all their spare cash m Deadwood Dick literature. In other words, that while there's a shot m the locker there'll he a lot m the shocker. "Sweethearts and wives" is a timehonored toast, and it is proposed to make a' change and put it : "Sweethearts, and may they always he. our wives." Many men have hecn putting that toast into practice for quite a long time, only, unfortunately for the sweethearts, they neglected Ihe marriage ceremony.
