Died recently, m Sydney, Mr CaliatfVin, father of Jack" Callaghan of this city. Old man Oallaghan was one time lie-td Dominie, of the Hamilton School, . New castle, N.S.W., and a more nuniiuic* antl kindly teacher never lived. Th« olil man had one failing (?), that was ;ii: . inluiise love of Ireland. His voice untl pen were always up. against the opponent'; of Ho:nc Rule, and many enemies he nude thereby. In fact it" was "his intense patriotism, that lost him his position with the N.S.W. Education Board, and really rcado him an old man before his time. He was of the build that 'didn't know how to. say "Yes n when he meant "No." The truth, and straight from the shoulder, was goo* enough for iiiui all the time.
