SAILORS' REST.

The concert giver to the sailors m port last Monday night by the Wellington. Working Men's -Club (under the directorship o£ ; Mr McComish) , and kindly arranged by Mr Apperley (chairman of the Entertainment Committee) proved to be the gem of all the high-class entertainments which have been given at this popular resort of seafaring men each Monday evening hitherto.. In addition to the instrumental numbers, vocal items were rendered by the Misses Bland aod Reeves, Messrs Hobman, Twohill, Watkins, Charles and Martin. Mr R. C. Hollow (the' pianist of the Club's orchestra) accompanied all the singers. Each item on the long and splendid programme was most heartily received and appreciated, and led to the chairman (Mr Wearn): having to prohibit any further encores, so that the ladies and gentlemen who had so kindly 'contributed; the entertainment might reach their homes m something like reasonable time.' The concert for Monday night next is being arranged by Mrs G-. Anderson.
