Old Boys were without the redoubtable Deans and Byrne, and it is remarkable that the absence of the men should make such a difference m a team. Moreover, Christchurch ; played 14 meh only, and several of them\ were ju» niors. ,It rained heavily throughout. Button, Christchurch Club full-back, who gave a fine exhibition oh a greasy ground against Old Boys on Saturday, is a six^fcen-ycar-old, who, m the absence of swelled head, should develop into something unusual.
