Enquiries were made by the Wellington 1 police, and, it was then ascertained that no such death had? been registered with the Registrar of Births, Marriages ahd Deaths. Enuuiry at the. "Evening Post" office revealed the fact that the "person." had not given his name or left his -atldrdss, consequently the task of tracing tjtie liviug corpse was made greater. A gentleman at Berhampore, however, came to light withjthe information that two. men frpm the" West Coast, one of whom was apparently the living . corpse of Green, had been /staying with him a. few days and. had -for some reason brother booked passages :to Sydney "m fictitious names, so that j!t would appear that the unfaithful Green had left these shores for a sunnier clime.
