The surprise of the season was brought off last Saturday, when Red Star seniors defeated Masterton seniors by the handsome margin of ten noints to three. The "twinklers", played- the same of their lives, and paralysed Ma.stertun with their forward rushes. Hanley notched a try for Masterton, which was not converted. ; At Carter ton the local seniors added another win to their record, heating Greytown by 12 points to nil, 4 The Dalefield and Red Star juniors, who had, up till last Saturday won all their matches this season, met at Dale* field. The local team were heavy and fairly fast, but the Stars were smarter, and their forwards played* with more ' "head." The game was a very good one. and the Stars, who had slightly the best of the play, won by 6 points to 5. The Stars score was made up of a try scored by Easthope anil a goal kicked from half way by Vie. Williams, a left-footer. Dalefield's score was a converted try. Red Star have now five wins to their credit, and Dalefield four wins and one lose. After these teams comes Te Ore Ore, Carterton. Martinborough Greytown, and- Masterton. The other junior matches on Saturday resulted as follows : Greytown 9. Masterton 0 ; Carterton 13, Te Ore Ore 3: In the third-class championship. Red Star beat Dalefield by points to 3. The first, second, an* third fif*e?ns of tb.3 Red Star Club secured wins on &rtnrday. a nerformance that has not vcforc been equalled m Saturday football m the Wairarapa.
