ATHLETICS.

THE CARRUTHER'S BENEFIT.

I The Basin Reserve to-day (Saturday) I ought to see a great gathering, when a sports meeting under the auspices of the Wellington Centre of tlie N.Z. A. A. A. will be held, the proceeds of which will be handed over to the mother of the late Tom Carruthers. Record entries have been received, and among those competing will be McKay, Australasian Champion, Sharpe, another Australasian champion, and Fisher and Henderson, members of the Amateur Rep. Team that recently visited Hobart. The price of admission is a humble boblet, and as the sport is bound to be keen and interesting, "Truth" expects a record attendance.
