Bridge, have Chosen a formidable team to defend the title to the shield. Among the competitors m the 220 yds, 440 yds, and Half Mile Championships will be the brilliant young Southland runner, W. F. Trembath, who is credited with being aP n\pst as 'good a 22j)yds man as Henderson, -and pretty nearly as good as Burk at the half. 11.- St. A. Murray (of Canterbury) the quarter-mile hurdles champion, will be a certain starter, as also will be C. L. Orbell (of Timaru), the present high-jump fchampion. Orbell 's friends are confident that he will this year break the New Zealand record— of b. Bin.— and with New Zealand record holder, G. P. Kfcddell, competing m the broad jump, and L.
