a, _. Sheridan Before the CoiirL Committed for Trial. The. remand of James Malachy Sheridan m Wellington Magistrate's Court effected a transformation 'm. his appearance. He visited the bar- * ber, tailor, and hatter-, and on Wednesday met the charge of murde ing John William McNaily, clothed like a superior person m blue serge, and carrying a. straw boater. Sheridan's aged pater, who is' in the Land Purchase office, lent tha moral sunnort of his presence to the proceedings, and there was a crowded auditorium. The evidence was substantiality the. same as that adduced at Me^llv's inquest, with tbe exception that meddlesome Mis^ioner wasn't permitted to disfigure the rrocP"'din«»s with his unnecessary testimony. Mr Gray, for the defence, submitted that there was NO CASE FOR COMMITTAL, as there was no probability or nossibi.lity, on the evidence . adduepd. that the jury would convict on ptiv charge.
