Last season Grafton headed the list of winning sires m Australia with 58 winners, of 164 races, of the value of £22,831. Korowai was bred at Auckland, m which district she performed successfully both on the flat and over hurdles m the colors of her breeder, Mr T. B. JBell. Davies, of the Lower Hutt, won' the Woodville Handicap, Rangitikei Cup, Greatford Stakes, Egmont Cup and other r_iC6S LOT ll— Alfalfa, blk filly, 3 years, by Lancaster— ltfamaku, by Vanguard —Dancing Lass, Like the previous lot, the dam of the Lancaster filly raced successfully m this island, where she was bred. She was a good sprinter, and won races at Waitara, Opunake, Egmont, Stratford and other meetings on tlie West Coast. She was sent to Australia for cross-country races, but went wrong, and did not race on the other side. Lancaster is a member of the- great Frailty . family, to which Trenton, Cuirassier, Zalinski and Havoc belong. Lancaster (18) is by Hotchkiss (2), sire of True ' Blue, Multiform, Uniform, Screw Gun, etc. Lancaster is at the Nandillyan Heights Stud (N.S.W.), his fee being 25, guineas. Lancaster was one of the best racehorses of •his time, and is the sire of Fille Fogi, The Shades, Ganvboola, Molong and other winners. There horses are m full training and fit to race at the present time. They will arrive m Wellington from Sydney on Wednesday next, from which date they can be inspected by intending purchasers.
