WELLINGTON BOOKMAKERS' ASSOCIATION.
-4 1 A meeting of the Wellington bookmakers was held at - Mr D. Ross's rooms on Wednesday afternoon, and was attended by some twenty Tommies. Mtr W. Walton was voted to tha chair, and m a few sentences explained the object of the meeting. On the motion of Mr W- Scott (Scott and Martindale), seconded by Mr A. Law, it was resolved to form a Wellington Bookmakers' Association, whose Objects will be to safeguard the interests of both layer arwi backer and to endeavor to rem ova some of the disabilities which hookmakers are at present laboring under m their dealings with racing clubs. >A committee consisting of Messrs Walton, Ross, Scott, Cowan, Conrick and Lewis was appointed t» wait upon the committee of the Manawatu Club with reference to the disputed points between these parties, and the same committee was appointed to draw up rules and a constitution, which will be submitted to a special meeting to be held early m the )New Year. It is intended to register the Association under the ; Unclassified Societies' Registration Act. Mr C. N« Beasley is secretary . of . the Association.
