PROSSER'S PRADS.
The Two and Three-year-olds.
Saturday last was a fiho day, and a trip to Porirua was indulged: m by not a few people who were bent on, shaking off the cobwebs. On the road to Jos. Prosser's I met Messrs Duncan a,nd AWfoott, who were going out to inspect their horses, and also Mr A. L. D. Fraser, who was anxious to have a look at Kurawaka, and Mr Luckie. The 'party was just m time to see an interesting, bit of work -between, the Sylvia Park— Miss Cole mare and Swimming. Belt. After this,, salutations were . extended to Jos. Prosser, ami then we headed for the stabjes. Time did not permit of a prolcnsied inspection, so we contented ourselves with a look, at the two and three year olds. The first of these was a big black colt called Tadtoltii, by Stepniak out of Whirlpool. . He is just three years old and looks like turning out more than useful. Prosser did hot tell us any secret, but on looks alone you must have this colt.. The next was the big Tortulla colt by Stepniak. He is a twp-year-oldi and is uncommonly large all over and is still growing. He is full of life, and has put the fear of God into more than one of Prosser's boys. He is the property of Mr J. Monk,, who informs me that he will give him every chance andi most likely he will.not be seen out before Xmas. After this we looked at a two-year-old bay filly by Stepniak— Belle Olair. She was ratherl on the pony side and lightly built. Altogether, were .1 a bookmaker, she could always run against me. " There is a godd tale told m connection with this filly. At the last sale of Mr J. B. Reid's yearlings, Messrs Dunca.n and Aib!bott "became separated and both bad for this filly. The latter secured hei\, and then it was discovered that this pair, , who have often been m partnership together, had been bidding' against one another. There is no need to tell what they said m explanation. A very nicelooking brown colt is Hereward, by Stepniak— Fairym aid. He can gallop a bit, and if all goes well will have a run m the Hawke's Bay Stakes next month. He was purchased by Mr lan Duncan, but was sold to Jos. Prosser at the conclusion of the sale. Happy Maid has developed into a nice big mare ami prows more like a Soult every day. She i« stMl on th,? inactive list. Kuravakn bas licph physicked and is a Irit ln??(>r Ih., n usual. Hiou^-h never carries much condition. ■ Her
next appearance will probably, be at Hastings next month. After partaking of refreshments, the party returned to town at 5 o'clock.
