Kaid Harry Maclean introduced bagpipes into Morocco. Now he is held prisoner. : Seems a nasty kind of getting even anyhow. Something of a sensation was caused m Wellington on Wednesday when Robert William (otherwise known as' "Bob") Patterson, ex-owtf-er of Solution, Ringman, Ringlet and Co., and part proprietor of the Clarendon Hotel, had been arrested on a charge of loitering by Constable Joinn Turner. Loitering is not always an ajrestable offence, and excitement ran high.' The charge sheet on Thursday morning, however, contained two allegations, first, of loitering on the. footpath m Mannersstreet after having been directed by the copper to move on, and secondly, of insulting behaviour to the slop, with intent to provoke a breach of the peace. Patterson pleaded not guilty and employed solicitor Blair to apply for a remand till Friday, September 6,. which was granted by Mr Ridriell. S.M. Patterson was admitted to bail m his own recognisances m the sum of £10.
