TOWN HALL.

Jessie Maclachlan. After a successful tour of the United' States, Canada, and Australia, Jessie Maclachlan is now m the South Island, and will reach Wellington on Thursday next to commence a series of farewell concerts m the Town Hall. Jessie Maclachlan on her former visit .was deservedly a very great favorite with all her audiences. In many parts, of New Zealand she created quite a furore by her singing of Scottish songs. Indeed, so much so, that m Christchurch, on the occasion of her last concert, her enthusiastic countrymen took the horses out of her carriage and dragged her to the railway station, and the same thing happened again last month under similar circumstances. The original company has been greatly strengthened by the inclusion of Mr Douglas Young, a Scottish tenor of high repute, who not only sings Scottish songs excellently, and is also heard to very great advantage m a nunir her of the more popular and well- j known English and Irish ballads. That gifted voun"-. 'cellist, John McLinden is still a member of the company, as well as Mr Robert Buchanan, the pianist. .
