The confidence of a cute Christchurch lawyer, T. G, Russell, has boon betrayed for once, and all along ■of an Hinglisher. A spruce young chap too, and as sharp- as a razor. Arthur. Keighiey is a cleahBhaven Londoner of the Johnny •type, who dresses m the pink of fashion, whether he can' afford it or not. He is only a recent arrival, aad what he came out here, at all for is only known to himself. Perhaps his relatives gave him a steamer ticket and a few hob, and told him to make himself scarce. On board the steamer he met Dr. Gerald Russell, Mr T. G. Russell's son, and the upshot was that after his arrival at Christchurch the latter j ' GAVE HIM EMPLOYMENT In his law office* Very soon the s'oung gentleman had charge of the cash box, and the sight of so much •lapse money lying there without edrnin-g interest aroused his business instincts ; m short, the .microbe; of appropriation .crawled through his' brain from time to time, and he nicked something over £20 before he was found out. It was a foolish steal, anyhow. Keighiey, who had been employed m the office for about six weeks, was arrested, and at Court next day Tec. Bishop asked for a remand until this Saturday, m order that further enquiries should fee made, as other moneys might be Bussing. The remand was granted:
