Viscount Curzon says that the unrest m India is only skin deep. Anyhow, it's deep enough to hurt*. In Wellington S.M. Court yestarday, the law fell on two Vii.-ns named Ja Hee and Yen Shing to the extent of £100 each for selling Pak-ah-poo tickets. Mr Wilford, for the accused, said they would "take ib out." Something of a sensation was caused m Wellington S.M. Court yesterday morning, when Mr Wilford asked for an adjournment of the case against J. White, a steward on. the Rotoiti charged with sly grogselling. White, on the previous night had taken an overdose of laudanum, and was then being attended by, his friends m an ante-room of the Court. Sub-Inspector O'Donoyan had a look at White, and said it appeared to him that tho steward was under the influence of liquor Mr Wilford objected to/ this a negation, and demanded that White should be produced m Court to satisfy the Bench as to his condition. White tottered into Court with assistance, and was obviously very ill, the Sub-Inspector suggesting that he should be removed to the 'hospital. The adjournment was granted.
