When grey clouds gather round my inner life, And darker shadows thickly, round me fall, My soul cries out unto my, spirit wife.; She hears. Its calls Those grey blue eyes, calm,, steadfast and serene, , With love-born (truth are gazing into mine. ' - ( No word falls from jthose lips,: -myr angel queen, • My ; life us thine. When crowned success sits smiling! o n my wayAnd all the works of man seem good and fair, x A' tender kiss falls on" my. locks,; now grey,. 'And she is there.] A : nd yet no word is passed between tis 'twain, Soul melts to soul, and heart communes with heart. Sighing, m cadence 'soft,- the , old refrain, -Death cannot part. : And when, world weary and! with throbbing brain, And faltering "* steps, my, restless couch I seek, My spirit wife is with' me once a- | gain. She lays Her cteek | Against my, pulsing heart and bids it rest, And straightway all it's tumult I seems to cease, Like infant nestling. to its mother's breast, And all is neaceAnd tortured memory racks itself no more, Save when m dreams I see that brave, sad smile !
