SAINTLY STANTON.
Charged with Manslaughter.
Billy Stanton, . the sanctimonious [Sooner, of, Christchurch,' who 'has been , so consistently exposed m "Truth" as a quack, and a liar, and other things, and whose so-called cancer cure was a fraud;, and who is charged with' helping' to kill young John Joseph . Greepey, was arrested at Heathcote, Christchurch, the other night, and charged with manslaughter This allegedly pious pulpiteer had been at large for ..some time. He should have been arrested on the day that, the jury found that, m their opinion, he had accbleratod Grceney's death by improper treatment, and tho exercise of insufficient care, but he; wasn't.. Weeks have passed since then. ■Stanton 'found that Christchurch was no palace for (him after the awful 'exposures about Ms Qancer and other treatments that ' had occurred m "Truth" ; so ho commenced to sell his furniture, and land, and odd ..things , that have nothing i..to do with cancer cures ; and he had accumulated a goodly worldly pile, too, including a section m Latimer Square. l Writer often wonders why this rascally adventurer tvnsn't hold responsible for young Greaney's death and he has only just now heard it- accidentally. It seems that the papers m the case were handed to Crown Prosecutor Strlnrrer for consideration to see if a charge of manslaughter would : lie against this hypocritical humbuff.- But Stringer mislaid them, or put thorn inside his hat, or his old overcoat, or something ; until the other day he wanted a pipe-light and, he discovered the ancient documents and rushed off to tbo police station to tell the 'Tecs, or the cook, or whoever was m command, to obtain a warrant and arrest the oily saint Stanton on sight. That welldressed liumbug, who had been expecting arrest long ago, was reposing at Heathcotu Valley, when 'Tec Bishop and Acting-Tec Kennedy suddenly appeared on the scene and made some observations:. The observations made by Stanton . against "Truth" may well be imagined. Ho is still making, observations. However, :he got bail, but when the piebald whiskered jackanapes appeared before Court on Monday,. Magistrate Bishop doubled the bail from £200 to £400 and remanded him until the 18th inst. Lawyer VHarper appeared for accused, -who was Laijout; to depart for England, home, (and beauts " .
