Surrey Cricket Club came out . of last season's workings with a profit of £586.11./. In the match with Yorkshire, the gate receipts— over £1550— jwere given to Walter Leas for his benefit. Holland, the Surrey professional, is to be tender-ed a benefit this season, and, as m Lees' caso, last year, the proceeds of ihe , Surrey-Yorkshire match will be set aside for that purpose. ■ While so ' many of the English county cricket clubs have ieen sending up a 'doleful cry of deficits, the Derbyshire Cricket Club congratulates itself on being on the right, side of the lodger to the tune of £18. The gate receipts amounted to £2659, and subscriptions for the yoar . totalled £1225. Last. season there was a losS of nearly £200. There is still owning to the bank a sum of £670. This season's match botw-eon the champion County and the Rest of England is to be played at tho Oval on September 12, 13, 14, and the Surrey Committee have decided, after consulting with the leading counties, that half the proceeds shall go to the Cricketers' Fund, and tho other half to the champion county for charitable purposes, to be selected by such county. Lord Hawke, asked his opinion with regard to the speech of Mr C. E. Green.
