MAHOE'S MISHAP.
Quite a surprise was caused- when the favorite, Mahoe, was withdrawn from the Grand National Hurdles, as it was generally conceded that the Sou'wester ■gelding /had only to stand -up, and the- race was won. It aj)pears that the, horse pulled up ; a"-' ! ; trifle - idd-tity/ after -the Oentury Hurdles at Wamsanui, and when tried, v-on the track-next mQrMnpj.iji'is condition;, ilid. not satisfy Ms. traihei;. As* it was fotia'd ira practicable, to land him sound at the iVucltlaind meeting, he was taken borne to FeiLding last week r , and will receive careful treatment: for the present. It was indeed unfortunate for ■ Mr Bull that his prad -should have gone wrong . at such a critical juncture, for the dou'bUe" Mn^ stood to win a tidy stake over the double. Besides fiaving the two Mahoes backed he had coupled the Sou'wester gelding for a considerable surd with Nadador, Waitarere, and other likely ones m the steeplechase. Under these circumstances! the luck seems to foave turned dead aiajainst : hdjn,, but I hope, to liear that there is nothing oermanently amiss with such a good' hurdler.
