THURSTON THREATENED.
Seething the Magistrate Knew.
Do the Right Thing by the Girl.
Misfortunes ooine m cyclones for some people, and it was another's misfortune that probably induced Magistrate MoArthur to deal leniently -with one Fredk. Thurston, who appeared before him last Monday charged with stealing a silver watch from one Robt. Todd on January 19th last. Tliurston was brought up one day last week for this offence and pleaded guilty and was remanded for sentenoe till Monday last. As the stolen watch had been recovered, Thurston was ordered to come up for sentence when called on. This easy get-off made Thursty look very happy and no doubt he had reckoned on getting three months at the least. Anyhow the beak had something else up his sleeve and he reminded him that there was a certain girl m trouble, and he said sternly " you see that you do the right thing by that young girl, and if you don't do it quick you will b 3 brought up for sentence and I'll give it to you.' .
